6 Tips for Remodeling Your Kitchen
Remodeling your kitchen can be a daunting task. Kitchens come in all different shapes, sizes and styles. Some are small, some are cluttered and some are very minimal. Whatever kind of space and specifications you are given should be the basis for how you start your project.
Here at Alliance Woodworking we are professionals at remodeling kitchens and cabinet doors! Through our countless years of experience we are going to leave you with 6 nifty tips for your next kitchen remodeling project!
- Eliminate wasted steps: Think about how you walk through your kitchen. What you are going to want to do is place everything in a convenient location so that you avoid unnecessary steps. It is not going to make any sense to store your dishware and flatware away from the dishwasher. What you are going to need to do is brainstorm how and where you use your kitchen items before you begin your kitchen remodeling.
- Choose a focal point: When planning to remodel your kitchen you want to take a look at the space and design of the kitchen from an artist’s view. You are going to want to look at the kitchen with an eye to what might serve as a focal point. A large window, alcove or long wall can be the perfect spot to have a stunning counter running up alongside it.
- Pick a perfect height for the microwave: The best height depends on the chef and desire of accessibility for kids. 15 inches above counter-top level is an optimal height for the microwave, but a microwave on the countertop or below would be safer and more suitable for smaller kids.
- Do not trash Existing Cabinets: If the cabinets are still holding up well and are of quality wood then they could still be salvageable. What you want to do is have all the cabinets cleaned and lightly sanded, and then hire a professional painter to come in and spray them. Don’t try to DIY the spray painting process; a nice spray job can make your old cabinets look brand spanking new!
- Don’t mess with the plumbing: Trying to mess with the plumbing can become really expensive. Instead of trying to reconfigure the placement of sinks, ovens and stoves, it is best to focus on upgrading the look rather than the placement. Avoiding re-arranging the plumbing can keep a boatload of extra cash in your pocket.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help: Kitchen remodeling can be a lot of work especially for someone with little knowledge of what they are doing. If the work overload is getting to become too much it would be a wise decision to hire outside help from experienced professionals who know how to get the job done. When you are considering hiring renovators it is a good idea to ask for references to see what kind of work they did on their recent jobs!
