5 Ideas for Remodeling Your Closet

5-closet-remodeling-ideas

Closets can be a vital part of choosing a place to live, re-building or re-modeling your home and keeping a marriage happy.  Having a custom-built closet can be the perfect gesture for your wife or husband that a typical closet just isn’t gonna do it for.  It’s also a great way to maximize space and get rid of the clutter around the bedroom.  It gives those shoes you keep tripping on in the middle of the night a home, keeping your toes free from injury.  Here at Alliance we offer tons of options for customizing your dream walk-in closet, a space-maximizing closet in an apartment, or the perfect wardrobe.  We work with the customer to get them the closet with the functionality they need and the style they desire.  Today we’re bringing an outline of 5 hot ideas for re-modeling or customizing your closet.

  1. Shelving/Cubbies

Oh the places you’ll go with shelving and cubbies!  They’re basic ideas but can give your closet a sleek look with high functionality.  If you’ve got a ton of shoes, cubbies or shelves can be a stylish and convenient way to organize them so they’re easily locatable for every occasion.  They also keep those nice shoes up off the ground and from under-foot.   You can also replace those shoes with accessories like hats that need to stay crisp and un-crumpled.  If you’ve got plenty of space in that closet cubbies and shelves also make great storage space for sleeping bags, boxes of photos, or trinkets from around the house.

  2. In-Laid drawers or dressers

Many people keep dressers in their closets to give them extra space.  Having an in-laid dresser or set of drawers takes that concept to the next level.  It gives the same functionality as the traditional dresser while eliminating the space they eat up in the closet.  Drawers and dressers can keep less-used clothing from taking up valuable real-estate that you need for your go-to outfits.  They are also excellent places for your jewelry like rings, necklaces and watches.  They’re a great way to keep those valuable items out of sight and safe.  Drawers can be outfitted with key-locks to keep those prized possessions safe from sticky fingers.

  3. Wall Hooks

A section of wall with several hooks on it can be an outstanding place to hang your larger jackets or a place to organize your purses and backpacks.  It keeps jackets wrinkle-free and gets those purses and bags up off the ground where you can display them, providing a showcase environment for higher end or artsy bags you may want to show off and highlight.

  4. Islands

Islands are multifunctional and stylish pieces to place in the center of larger walk-in closets.  They can be outfitted with drawers for make-up and jewelry and provide a large surface space for any primping that may need to be done before that big night out.  Placing mirrors on the top of them can give you a space to do make-up, fine tune hair or nails, and make sure the knot in your tie is on point.

  5. Wardrobes

Not every home has a built in closet or the space for a walk-in.  Wardrobes are a great alternative for smaller spaces and apartments.  They keep clothing out of the elements with all the functionality of a basic closet and can also be an eye-popping piece of furniture.  They can be a one-stop-shop, holding clothes, shoes, ties and bags.  Along with major closet builds and re-models, we also custom build wardrobes if a larger closet isn’t an option.
